(those keys just because most U2 songs are in E or A).... New Year's Day and Bad get played down a full tone from the originals too now and Pride has always been down a full tone in D!! So even Bono can't do it all the time.... but man he's got an insane register (and we can't forget Edge who might even have a bigger one; be does all the insane harmonies after all!) [ - I realise that's a bit off topic but still....]
Gotta love your analysis, keep them coming even if we're indeed a bit off topic

If you asked me with no time to think about it I would have said most U2 songs were in D (or Db but played in ), I wouldn't have guessed most U2 songs are in E or A (or Eb and Ab for that matter), but now that you mention it there's an awful lot of them out there in these keys. Most of R&H, AB, Pop and ATYCLB is, actually! Funny

Haha thanks, this is probably the only place this is welcome rather than dreaded, but then again I guess that's why we're here! In A, E and D you can manage a lot of open string things and things with harmonics; a lot of U2 has an underlying drone kinda feel which goes back to old Irish folk music, which I always think I'd a really nice tie in - (one of) the biggest rock group(s) in the world basing their music on old folk traditions from the homeland; there's a few articles out there about it
  3. Was enjoying it until the Michael Buble lookalike and friends came in singing; then I gave it away. I still think Scala & Kolacny Bros did the best cover of WOWY.
  4. Thomas Di Leva, an artist that pretty much every Swede knows has apparently made a cover of Pride(In The Name Of Love).

Same. It was a trainwreck in the end. A pure instrumental cover would have been better
  6. This popped up on my Spotify today. Not wowed but an interesting choice.
  7. Superb.

  8. This is a good cover. Could be the best U2-cover I have heard. Anneke Giersbergen sings in the Gathering. Seeing them soon in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands.
  9. I wished the ashtray sung instead, I'm sure it'd be a better version.

Thankfully they were conscious enough to cut the recording just before the big Oh Oh's.
  10. That's a classic It's been posted several times in this thread. She's got a lovely version of AIWIY as well.
