1. Anton Corbijn also confirmed this on his Instagram in a comment to someone. E&I film out first early in the year and then JT film later.
  2. Another film is in the works as well, this time in the form of a feature film produced by Anton Corbijn, which will focus on The Joshua Tree Tour 2017. Corbijn in 2017 traveled with the band and filmed shows in San Diego, Mexico, and throughout South America. It was also Corbijn who was responsible for the films that played on the screen during The Joshua Tree portion of the concerts. It is the footage filmed live in Mexico City (with some content from San Diego for the opening songs) that will be the focus of the film, which will also feature some non-concert footage. It is Corbijn’s first time helming a concert video for U2 but he has previously worked extensively with Depeche Mode documenting their tours. The Joshua Tree film should debut mid-year in theatres worldwide, and be released to home video formats late in the year. The film was originally rumoured for a late 2018 release, but was finally scheduled for June 2019. When the decision was made to take The Joshua Tree tour on the road again in 2019 it was decided that the film would be held until this year instead. We are told that Steve Lillywhite has mixed the audio for the film, and that his work was complete in mid-2019 before the 2019 tour began. We are crossing our fingers that this one happens soon, and are told that it will likely happen in June or July 2020. Many acts are now releasing films to theatres worldwide before a home pressing, including recent films by Depeche Mode and The Cure.

  3. So they won't be including any 2019 footage on the film? The 2019 tour was better than 2017 in all regards and the band was much more into it... Not including the reworked encore and the improved stage is a terrible mistake imo. And of course the missed chance to release something from the extraordinary places they had never visited before, like Singapore, Seoul, Manila and Mumbai.

    OH WELL

I guess they don't share your expert opinions

it'd be great if the movie was a compilation from all the shows in 2017 and 2019. they could use any pro - shot footage for all the songs before the encore & then use 2019 footage for the encore, where they could show a song per city, which would be really cool.

it was the same tour with just a bit of E&I (and Every Breaking Wave) included. You can watch that part on the Berlin (or Paris) dvd. Apart from that there was not much difference, the band being more into it is just nonsense... and if true, you won't notice much difference on the dvd anyway. When you ask Corbijn to make the movie and he's taking time for it, you don't throw it into the garbage can because some die hard fans think 2019 was slightly better... let's see what Mexico brings us.. we haven't even seen it and yet it's already the worst thing ever
  7. Nonsense? I haven't seen the band as into these 2019 shows as they were since 360.. Occasionally on I&E, maybe once or twice on the 2017 tour. How many times have you seen Larry doing drum roll intros and talking openly into the mic? Everything about these shows was better
  8. Everything about the 2019 tour shits all over the 2017 tour. It is criminal that they're not including anything from 2019. Hopefully for the dvd we get some extra content.
  9. Hard for me to make a fair comparison because I only saw the first show in 2017 and they were understandably underdone back then. By the time it restarted in 2019 in Auckland they were much more assured in the songs, the visuals and even stage positions. The most significant difference is undoubtedly the third act, and 2019 was far better than 2017 for me. No one is saying the 2017 will be the worst thing ever.
  10. So your saying 2019 was the Best Thing?
  11. I preferred the 2019 shows to the show I saw in 2017, and I didn’t really have any complaints about 2017 but they took it to a new level last year. However, the thing I’m more concerned about is the bit about non concert footage included. That sounds like they’re going to break away from the show at points during the dvd which doesn’t sound appealing. It also has me thinking will the songs at least run from beginning to end or are they going to have stupid commentary run through them where the song basically becomes background noise. At the very least I would like uninterrupted footage of TJT section.
