1. I wanted to start a topic about remixing and ideas here for a while. I’m still very new to audio-editing but managed to create various (basic) remixes together.

The main (re)mixes I currently have:

Garbage - Who's gonna ride your wild horses (Bono on Vocal)
U2/Depeche Mode switching singers on So Cruel (Bono starts with Depeche, then U2 with Dave Gahan takes over)
Nine inch Nails - Zoo Station (Trent/Bono on Vocals)
U2 - Ultraviolet 1 (Hansa demo with parts of Spinning Head, The Fly, UV Light my way and one "easter egg" weaved in)
U2 - Zoo Station as it could have been (mix of Sky Down, Baby version, and the Eno "Bottoms" remix)
U2 vs. A-ha (The sun always shines on tv mixed with Beatiful Day)
Nine inch Nails - Hurt (NiN version with Johnny Cash on Vocal)
Johnny Cash version of "One" (with Bono on vocals), and the U2 version (with Cash on vocals)

I have more, but these are actually "listenable" at the moment I'm still in the phase of learning about mastering so these remixes might get updated with newer, better sounding versions. If anyone has ideas or their own creations, please join in on the fun.

Thought to start off with a new (re)mix of Johnny Cash joining U2 on "One". It's Cash and Bono altering vocals and Cash's guitar joining U2's guitar intro:

  2. This Mix (I remember @Jimmy93 asked for this one) is the Garbage version of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses with Bono instead of Shirley Manson on vocals. This is the more bright mix, I'm still looking at a more bass-heavy, dark mix.

  3. This

    Vs Ultraviolet

Maybe the music for the george michael version of miss Sarajevo with a bono vocal? Quite a fitting song at the moment at well, is there a time for keeping your distance?

That would be an idea yes.. I was actually looking for fitting lyrics and that might be an idea.

Anybody else knows lyrics that have keep distance/wash hands/ etc? I was trying to look for software today to alter the lyric but not the vocal. For once I wanted Bono to sing "We got to carry eachother" instead of "get"...
  6. U2/Depeche Mode - So Cruel (Hybrid). Bono sings with Depeche Mode, and at around 2mins (Bass moment) U2 takes over with Dave Gahan on vocals. This is today's version of an amateur trying to figure out mixing/mastering

I asked for it !!! magnificent, thanks !
  8. I'm looking into to new mastering tools, so I might redo the Wild Horses as it sounds a little "harsh" to me. Although I love his vocal on that track..

This gave me goose bumps and a turning stomach as if I listened to this song for the first time...only now with the freshness of the Depeche Mode beats and sounds...makes Bono's voice even more emotional in this electro sea .
Makes me curious on how Bono's voice would sound on the whole DM version..;-)
    Hint hint....
    Thank you so much!

    Haha thanks.

TBh I can't hear the song anymore as I spent quite a lot of time on it, but it must sound surprising if you hear it for the first time. It's still not perfect but "listenable" enough.

I started this one with trying Bono on Depeche's track and the reverse. The reason I chose this particular "mix" was that I felt it highlights the best parts of both tracks (Bass moment ). But with the stuff I learnt the last weeks/days I can do a quick trial to see how a DM/Bono version and U2/Gahan version would sound.. Personally, Gahan gave me the most goosebumps when I heard him on the track.

PS. I might move the sharing to Twitter soon, as that is where (I think) the most of the U2 community communicates these days
  11. Here's one more that I did (and might re-do):

This mix is not meant to be a great song particularly, but an attempt to figure out which songs actually came out of the infamous "Take You Down/UV1" demo from the '90 Salome Achtung outtakes.

I used the (uncut) backing Guitar/Bass/Drums from the Hansa demo as the basic track and then added (where it would fit:

    - Vocals of "Lady with the spinning head" (that was easy, almost identical)
    - Guitar part + solo from "The Fly" (solo cut short because that song has different chords from that point)
    - Vocal from the intro of Ultraviolet (light my way) in the middle eight break (fits like a glove)
    - More vocals of (light my way) that fitted the chord progression near the end
    - Guitar outtro from "The Fly"

This was an earlier project and it's far from radio-ready, but it might be a good laugh in these worrying times..
