1. Another secret I just realized this morning when my car radio randomly decided to play two SOE songs in a row:

I never bothered to actually learn the lyrics to several SOI and SOE songs. Volcano, Showman, Lucifer's Hands, American Soul... It's not that I listen to these songs every day week month year, but when I do I just mumble along like Bono in a 2001 performance of ASOH.

Something something Van Morrison something something OOOOOO, OOOOO, HOOO, ON BORDERLAND WE RUN

    Love that version.
  3. I have 2 confessions.

    1) I once got a number on my hand the evening before a show.

    2) I checked in late that night, first thing that morning, again later in the morning and then decided I couldn’t be arsed with it.

that's not the mumble version That's just a version with complete new lyrics, no mumbling. At Slane Castle he was trying the original lyrics without much luck.

    Border night, take my hand
Let me take you to Caleeh-for-nee-aahh
    'Cross the bridge to Oakland...
    Arena.

At least that was funny and improv. On the other hand, Slane didn't even make sense:

I'll be there, I'll be there
    Toniiiight
    We'll build a harrow
    A harrow on the hill

I'll be there, side of the road
Side of the hill, valleys explode

Oh come away, oh come away
Oh come away, oh come away

    Winter flash, time apart
    Summer lightning waltz
    Spoken words, just a lie
    On the streeeeeets
  6. I don't think they were singing about a harrow
  7. That's what I can make out of Bono's rant. Obviously it doesn't make any sense, it's just random Bongolese:

  8. He's saying "a high road / a high road out of here"
  9. lol , makes more sense (still not much).

I'll stick to "harrow" though, I love Bono's nonsense
  10. It's actually the original lyrics, up til that point he's not that far off.. it's just that the "Tonight, we'll build" part shouldn't be there. I think most of the words Bono is using are from the original lyrics, he's just doesn't seem to know the right sequence anymore. It's not like Oakland where he's not even trying to sing the right lyrics.
But your version is nice/funny as well, like misheard lyrics often are
  11. Here's one of mine.
Growing up as an 80's kid, I became an addicted fan of Pet Shop Boys early on. I knew all their songs by hard. I swear I genuinely believed that "Streets" was their song. Never knew otherwise. Until... in 2005, I went to my first U2 live show and the arena went wild to Streets. I stood there in the crowd thinking "ah, so this is a U2 song?!!? " Confusing.
