Suppose i was lucky in the sense that my first show was Glasgow I&E and that was like a religious experience.
  3. Long time ago, my 4th U2 concert, 1993-06-12 - Cologne, mainly because of the very bad standing places on the below rang, we could'nt hardly see something and the sound was quit bad.
  4. Best show ever in the story of rock music!
  5. Saw the first dublin Vertigo show, fan club seats at the side of stage upper croke park.
2nd time seeing them in dublin, but a piss take that these were fan club seats.
I saw the first slane elevation as well, and both times i thought the band just played better other cities, maybe first night stuff.

Interesting. I was at that show, and being it was my second U2 show ever (first indoors), I thought it was amazing. My wife, who was just along for the ride and let's say "tolerated" U2 prior to that, gained a lot of appreciation for just how talented they are.

We were in the middle of the catwalk about 8 feet away, so getting the band up close was a cool experience. COBL was probably the highlight of the show, and I didn't know enough at the time to realize just how rare Sweetest Thing was.

I'm with you on singing Happy Birthday to John Cusack though...
I am incredibly biased and should provide a fuller context to my review -

I did all 5 of the Chicago shows, AND went to a show elsewhere on one of their nights off, so by U2's 4th night I was starting to feel the burnout. The first two nights, I had been in the pit, and would be back there on night 5. But for nights 3 and 4, I was in the nosebleeds just so I could see the show. Sitting with an unengaged crowd for the second night in a row, hearing essentially the same set I'd been hearing all week, certainly impacted the mood.

The 3 nights I spent in the pit on the I&E tour were all unforgettable. I have memories cemented from each individual night.
  7. both nights were 'amazing' - and that's an actual sentence that deserves that often used word

something was in the air in Glasgow

i took these 2 photos of where i was - most turned out pretty bad but these 2 were alright

That‘s interesting, because it is one of my favorite shows I attended. We were right in front of the stage and the Sound was fantastic. Recall that all Zoo TV shows had Adams bass upfront in the mix.

It was because the Welsh lent a hand to the Celts. We made an effort on both nights!
Those gigs really were ignited to say the least.
I'm guessing those that were not there can only dream about these shows.
We had a great time before, during and after these shows with the Scottish folks who heard our accents and just looked after us. Great nights, great people and without doubt the best shows I saw on that tour.
  10. ok... so a full bad show is really hard to come by.... maybe the opening night of POP in Las Vegas is the worst i can think of.... As for songs the boys have messed up a fair amount here and their.... for me the most memorable moment was in Tulsa 2018, during the singing of ONE, sitting in the front row, Edge F**ked up the chords which led Bono to look over and then he messed up the lyrics!!.... oh what fun...... i have no least favorite show....and thanks to U2start i only have 850+ or so..
