I think their catalog has just gotten too large. It’s always the same big hits now + 6 new songs and a “die-hard rarity” when they tour.

Beautiful day, streets, wowy, pride, haven’t found, city lights, elevation, vertigo, mysterious ways, Sunday, I will follow, real thing, one. They’ll always be there.

They didn’t play any Joshua Tree songs in 2018.
City of Blinding Lights wasn’t played in 2017 or 2019. Mysterious Ways wasn’t played in 2018, and before that, it missed a lot of shows in 2005. Pride wasn’t played at a lot of shows in 2010 and 2011. Elevation wasn’t played at a large number of shows in 2009 and 2010. I Will Follow missed out on 2009 entirely and was kept Even Better Than The Real Thing wasn’t played in 2009 at all and stayed as a rotational song in 2010-2011, it also wasn’t played at a lot of shows in 2017. Even Vertigo was on a brief hiatus in 2017. One missed some shows in 2015. Sunday Bloody Sunday was eventually taken out of the set in the 2018.
The only song on your list that ‘has always been there’ seems to be Beautiful Day. I don’t even think it is possible to find a setlist which features all the song you mention on the same night - closest thing would probably be the 2019 gigs but to be fair they were also tailored specifically for fans who had not had the opportunity to see the band in almost a decade and/or ever before… (that said, you forgot New Year’s Day!) Say what you will but at least the band seems to be aware of the problem, and in my opinion they are actually doing a pretty good job of balancing between the expectations of casual fans (which should be their primary concern, since they take up most of the concert audience!) and die-hards, especially for a band with their back catalogue…

I hope your joking. Every song I listed was played in 2015 and a majority of them were played from 2017-19. I don’t care about set lists from 10+ years ago. Blinding lights was played in 2018. Mysterious ways was played a few times in 17 and every show in 15. Pride has been played at every show on every tour since 2015. You can pick and around and try to say “they weren’t played often” but they really were over the last few years. The set lists are always guaranteed to have a majority of these songs if not all of them.
  6. Avoiding JT in 2018 was done for an obvious reason. It’ll be back on the next ‘non-JT’ tour.
