It’s harder to smuggle out a 12” vinyl box set.

Since the big crack down a few years back it’s actually rare to have leaks that far in advance. Last big one was Atomic Bomb. Shortly after that they busted the guys responsible for most of it.

The leaks since then have been stupid mistakes. NLOTH leaked because Universal did themselves in. SOI never leaked. SOE leaked only due to a copy being sent out early to someone who played it.

I’ll never forget the phone call I had from Paul McGuinness the morning ATYCLB leaked. He wanted help with understanding where it was on the net. He wanted to know how bad his problem was and where to find all the copies. It was 4am here, and I just told him “you are too late…”

never heard about the ATYCLB and HTDAAB leaks! Who were responsible for the leaks? Was it a mistake from within the recording label companies or a copy got (accidentally) sent to the wrong hands?

There was an organized ring of people stealing from the Polygram manufacturing plant and leaking it onto online platforms for big money. There’s a detailed look here but you have to register your email to read…they were busted in 2009 and leaks have dropped drastically since then. Those that happen now are usually traced back to early shipments from stores etc. and happen far closer to the release dates…

He is working for that paycheck right now, not the band. I am sure the last thing the publisher would want is him spending this time to also plug an album with the same name as the memoir that fans would buy this holiday season instead.

Not hard to imagine Bono standing in front of the dressing room mirror every night of this tour saying repeatedly:
DO NOT MENTION THE FCKN RECORD
DO NOT MENTION THE FCKN RECORD
DO NOT MENTION THE FCKN RECORD
DO NOT MENTION THE FCKN RECORD
    DO NOT MENTION......
  5. Simple answer is and has always been, the book and subsequent tour is a Bono thing. Once that dies down, back to U2 and all that entails, including SoS. We've got Bono being the bard right now, SoS in the future, AB30 coming, new album, Vegas, etc... it's an exciting time
  6. 'the future is coming on, is coming on...' let's get our butts ready, because the U2 rocket is going to take off and it will bring unforgettable moments

*may or may not actually happen
  8. I am really enjoying the Surrender audibook. As others have stated, Bono really makes this a truly immersive experience. In "The Showman" chapter, Bono discusses Frank Sinatra and how Bomo is fascinated by the "duality" of songs. When he was young, Sinatra's "My Way" from Bono's perspective is about defiance, when Sinatra sings it in his mid 50's, it about affirmation. When Sinatra sings "My Way" in his 70's it becomes an applogy.....the concept of duality may be a set up for and connection to Songs of Surrender... deep thoughts on Thanksgiving while waiting for the parades to commence.

Apologies. My previous comment was too blunt. And you have constantly being on point with your site which is my #1 source for u2 info. Guess just annoyed by how the band keeps canning projects, but sorry to let my negativity out towards you.
  10. I really don’t see why they can’t be plugging both things at once.
