Haha, I know it resonates with you as well. Beautiful guitar bit.

There's also Bad @ Brussels 2010 as a good example. Again, he's not Steve Vai or Slash but he knows what to play and how to play it so it becomes a nice addition to the song.

thanks for sharing this, sounds great.

for anyone that's maybe looked into this more closely,
    A) was he playing around with these solo notes at other Leg 3 shows around this time? or was this the one and only time it appeared?

    b) i noticed this was an IEM recording. Does anyone know from an audience recording, if his guitar part was actually audible to the crowd in the mix?

    You can barely hear it

I think he did it in Rome too, but can't check it now. Feel free to check it for yourself, both shows have absolutely superb audience recordings.

  4. I was at this show and it is definitely 100% just Bono. The liner notes are wrong.

  6. Did Bono 100% sing the song in full as you claimed 15 years ago?
  7. Most of it and way more than Foxboro. He played it the same way at the September 15 1992 Chicago show also. A little bit of splitting hairs imo. But you are "technically" correct. I guess most 2nd and 3rd leg Popmart Mofo's are considered incomplete also!😉

I think it could definitely be considered a far more complete version but you did also quote lyrics that were never sang, not at Pontiac anyway, in defending a point rather vigorously lol. I find it quite humorous in all honesty, we’ve probably all done something similar at some point in our lives. Yes I do pick up on other examples like u2gigs saying Zooropa was performed in full on 360 when it wasn’t. ‘Most complete version(s)’ might be a better way of putting it. I also found the liner notes on the ab 30 live release poor in general from Bill Flanagan. Definitely has misheard the lyrics in until the end of the world and has made a point of quoting they lyrics he wrongly heard, specifically mentions edge on acoustic guitar for so cruel when anyone who knows anything about Bono and edges guitar playing can tell it’s Bono and other quoted lyrics as well missing words, lines even . Really unprofessional.

My recollection at the time was that it was most or all of it. Someone way back had said Detroit and Chicago were done just like Foxboro and I knew that he had done most or all of it in comparison. Foxboro is almost just a snippet in comparison. So that is what I was initially reacting too. Sorry, obviously is earth shattering to you.

Nothing earth shattering, we can all make mistakes, it was just funny you’d wrote that Bono had definitely sang all the lyrics and you were 100% sure even quoting lyrics he hadn’t sang. It’s maybe been the case you were agitated at the time knowing it was more than a snippet and got carried away suggesting he sang it all when he didn’t, easy mistake to make, just a lesson for us all to be careful how far we’re willing to argue something but no harm done. Bill Flanagan’s notes are more of an issue with they inaccuracies making it onto a physical release.
