    1) Slagging it, "why would you touch most of your monuments?" and change everything that made them great and what we love about it? Also, it doesn't sound like U2, but as a Bono/Edge project, which exposes their weaknesses. Also, most of it is boring and uninspired

    2) it's a courageous and inspiring move to face your biggest songs and try to create a different perspective. not every song works, but there are some great attempts on the album.
Definitely room there for another category because I am in it. I am also still struggling to define it but I don't fir within either of those categories 24 hours in.

I think these are mostly on the (outer) ends of the review spectrum but most of the reviews fit in those two (I think). I've also got mixed feelings about it. Some renditions I welcome and like (mostly the 'deep cuts'), but I don't really see the point of releasing 40 of these songs, some of which are just baffling
  3. I ordered the clear vinyl + 4CD + white cassette bundle. The vinyl arrived today but nothing else. Does the rest come separately?
  4. Had another full listen as a background to Friday evening socializing. A less focused listen exposed the arrangements as a bit samey, there's only a handful of songs that break out of the guitar+vocals or piano+vocals sound. Still, it was enjoyable, but I think the album works better as a headphones experience.

Also - everyone immediately started paying attention when Two Hearts Beat As One came on!
  5. I am actually really enjoying the whole thing. Maybe because I’m 45 now. These songs are intimate, one can feel their love for them, and for music more generally. I thought it was a bit too much on the mumbles side at the beginning. And I am not sure I agree with all the choices. But, in the end, the whole family is listening and singing to the songs.

I also hope we can see some new music next year, of course. Or later this year. They shouldn’t associate each album to a tour. Taylor Swift recently hasn’t. And she has released some of her very best work. (I’ll get online hate for this, I know. We all have our weaknesses.)
  6. I changed my mind on this after listening on my phone for the build up promo sounded awful. But went out in my car and really enjoyed them.
I wouldn’t sit through all 40 tunes but I would create my own playlist of the ones I like n would find that enjoyable to listen to

Let’s face it these type of albums greatest hits/strip back type are just filling in time.
  7. I'm also in the mind changing camp somewhat, put it on Spotify late last night, got about half way through and was better than I thought it would be.I'm happy they scratched this itch but now let's have a new rock record.

Excuse my ignorance but why would you buy it on cassette?

    I haven't received anything yet 😢
  10. SOS would have been a brilliant pandemic gesture to fans during a shutdown or an eventual fan club gift. It would have made more sense to be released as an official soundtrack to the Surrender biography. But U2 album? Nah. It doesn't come close in reaching the level of a stand-alone U2 release and is hard to consider it to be equal to the level of previous works.
