We & all? Stop speaking on behalf of myself.
No not the album "we were 'all' clamoring for" at all, far from it! ??

As you are new to U2 then may be you were not clamoring for an acoustic album from U2...... But as a fan for 37 years, I was and I am sure all long time fans were also.

I’ve never wanted any kind of reimagining - what a waste of time. I admit some songs sound good, but they never needed revisiting to begin with. After songs of Ascent, I really wouldn’t care if U2 stopped making music. They have a great catalog of songs with original versions that didn’t need messing with. If Larry is out, I’m out and U2 should be over.

Do you work for the NME sounds like the sort of thing they'd write, what's the point in going into the studio and doing similar versions of the originals that's just completely lazy and pointless, at least they are giving the songs a new twist it might not always work but it's interesting to hear them even if they aren't as good as the original songs.
