1. Thanks for the feedback. I have not yet received the 4-CD Songs Of Surrender release that I purchased. When I do receive it, I will look at the CD credit list. The following webpage does not specify "lead vocal":
    https://www.u2songs.com/news/songs_of_surrender_the_credits

That webpage actually lists Edge as vocals for all 40 tracks but it just doesn't specific "lead vocal".
  2. if they'd trimmed this album back to the best 11/12 songs out of the 40 it would be pretty decent. I don't know why they did as many as 40 songs , too many imho.

They have there are various formats that have 16 and 20 songs..
  4. Yeah but these are just variations – the main album is 40 songs long and there's a certain consensus that it's way too long and many songs are not worthy inclusions. A 12-15 songs thing would have been much easier to swallow, faster to produce (hence easier to deliver on time) and in general a better move. But, of course, a 12-15 song album wouldn't have matched with the 40 chapters in Bono's book (#). And that's all.

(#) And then again, having a 40 song album but the songs not matching with the book's chapters doesn't make any sense.

I agree but I'm happy they included 40 songs though
We all know they can make poor choices... (Book of Your Heart, Lucifer Hands, Crystal Ballroom).
And if they made it an album of 12-16 songs I presume we only had the big hits like One, Beautiful Day, With or Without You...
  6. that's still too many songs. 11/12 songs on one CD . With some artwork that makes sense. Job Done .
  7. My 4LP set finally arrived. I got No. 17850, anyone know how many were made?

Also, has anybody ordered from the universal store before? Works out cheaper than U2.com, wondering if they're reliable

  8. I seem to recall it was 50,000 but @u2wanderer1 might correct me.

Haha yes of course, that would have been even more disastrous. Look at post #2 in this same thread
  10. My copy of the digital download that came with the bundle was emailed to me on March 24th. That's a week after release. You'd be pretty cheesed off if that was the main way you were going to listen to the album and it arrived a week after the release!
  11. The problem is what songs to pick - judging by reactions on this forum and the small number of reviews I’ve read, people seem to disagree as to which songs best represent the album. I agree that as an ‘album’, 40 songs is a little bloated, but at least in this way there is a little something for everyone. I for one would have liked this album a lot less if they had stuck to a regular album length, three of my favourite ‘songs of surrender’ is 11 O’Clock Tick Tock, Electrical Storm and Lights of Home - they were not even chosen for the 20 song version…
