I WAS orginally going to give this bootleg 4 stars but decided in the end to change it to a 4.5 star. Great gig in the Netherlands. Mofo and Discotheque are two songs which were diamonds in this show. There was any big problem to report. There was an odd mistake, maybe from Bono but it was pretty fine.
Really good sound. Was thinking of giving it a 4.5 star but decided against it. Recording: "I Will Swallow" - 4 stars
I don't know why the rest are shouting out 5 star. There is NO way that the audience were 5 star. Listen to Santiago or Leeds for 5 star audiences, not here. 4 star maximum.
Overall, a great show. Two shows in Rotterdam was a great way to start the European leg. Obviously an idea taken from ZooTV. As said earlier, Mofo and Discotheque were the highlights. No lowlights at all.

Firstly, I wasn't there. In 2014 a tapingbuddy of mine (who was at this show), handed me over a box with 300 DAT-tapes.
In between them were his own master, and another source being a clone from the master DAT.
About 6 months ago Hoserama hooked up with a IEM-source from this gig, after him remembering I had a couple of clean
transfers from this date. I got very excited about it, and took the challange to mix them up.
The OKMIIr-source speaks for itself. It's a widely spread recording in all kinds of lineageforms (incl. analog versions).
This one is a confirmed clone from the master, directly from the taper himself. It has virtually no crowdnoise and no
clappers, which for mixingpurposses isnt actually that great to get the live-feeling within the mix. On the the other hand,
the bass in this recording is heavy and full. So, I had to make choices.. oh well, like the result.
The IEM-source is incomplete, and missing the last four songs. It's a Edge-(crew)feed, with Edge's vocals pretty loud in
the mix. Guitar sounds are powerfull as well, so easy to bring them all up. Source had a fair amount of static, which for 90%
I was able to remove without any artifacts. Especially 'Until The End Of World' was marred, you probably can hear that.
Bono's vocals are swirling around a bit from time to time, and aren't as powerfull and upfront as Edge's ones.
I tried to get ridd off the click-track, but it's still there in some occasions. Moreover the AUD-source was taped closely
to the stage and you can hear the on-stage clicktrack as well. Besides, I couldnt find a better setting and not harming the
music any further.
I'm mixing recordings primairly for my own ears. I like to accomplish a sound were instruments and vocals are upfront during
songs, and aud-noise is more audible in between them. This isnt always easy, and sometimes hard choices are need to be made.
If you dont like these kind of results I get that, everybody has his own personal tastes. So criticism is welcome, complaining
wont get me anywhere.

This is from a 1st gen or master DAT, remastered by Francesco Donadel.
This was U2's second night in Rotterdam/Europe of the PopMart tour. It was a very good show, they seemed more loose than the second show, and put on a more interesting performance (IMO) than night one. Bono did "Love Will Tear Us Apart" at the end of WOWY. Nothing else about this show should surprise you other than the energy and vocal ability of Bono, which varied throughout the tour.
The sound quality of both nights was identical. Rather flat, but extremely clear, with individual audience members 97% inaudible. Probably the lowest/unobstructed audience noise recording you'll hear, but the mix is not that great, seems to be missing a lot of the high end, and the remastering helped a little, but it seems that he couldn't really bring out the high end because it just isn't there. Despite the audience noise, I prefer something like "One Stop Shopping" or the tracks you'll hear from the pro soundboard recording of the Rotterdam show. There is a little light static that is on Justin Cook's original copy.

"At the very end of an album you’re at the height of your powers in terms of writing, arranging and performing. It’s a shame that you have to stop then and start the other phase of what we do, which is playing live. This time we haven’t really stopped. Bono is trying to capitalize on that momentum and that sharpness.”
- The Edge prior to the Innocence and Experience tour

The Rattle and Hum album opens with a live cover of The Beatles' "Helter Skelter". Its inclusion on the album was intended by the band to reflect the confusion of The Joshua Tree Tour and their new-found superstar status.
