Really good peformance. The early shows of the european leg have a Bono in great form, which is a highlight in its own.
The IEM is good overall, maybe 4, but in some songs (actually, most of them) there are a lot of fluctuactions, scrachtings, noises... Recording: IEM - 3.5 stars
This part is only rated, not commented on
I can't give it 5 stars because of the sound, but this is a great PopMart show.
Highlights: Mofo, Gone, Until The End Of The World, Miami (one of the best), Please, Where The Streets Have No Name (at the end Bono improvises some lyrics and for a second I had the impression it was a snippet of Iggy Pop's "The Passenger"), Discotheque.

Notes : This IEM was essentially forgotten by the taper and myself. Tripped over
it recently doing a last pass on some dat recordings. IEM was taped actually
outside the festival grounds by my friend who drove from another country to see the show.
They did not have a ticket, but there were hundreds available outside. Problem was, the
scalpers didnt want to sell a ticket at a loss, so it was described they literally all got together
and set the tickets on fire in front of the onlooking buyers. The entire show put a
bad taste in friends mouth as they never actually saw it, just ran the scan and went home. There are
occurences of interference that are dealt with in the first few songs, so its not pristine. That
said, its a pretty good show and its something that just hasn't been out there in this format.
Enjoy the 20 year celebration of probably U2's weirdest tour in my opinion

what they said
"It's a big deal to have your chest cut open. It was a long surgery. I tend to and I shouldn't judge things by their effect on the music, but it certainly made me more vulnerable to music. We did some of our songs of Songs of Experience for the BBC, with an orchestra. It wasn't long after surgery and I remember almost having to block out the words as I was saying them. It was too much. It was like hearing them for the first time."

did you know
In U2's very early days, a guy called Eugene who played drums in a north Dublin rock outfit called Stryder occasionally filled in for Larry on the gigs he couldn't make.
