Yeah the concert on there is their early 90s Metro show...my favorite venue of all time, and where they got their big start. Need to get my hands on that reissue.
I registered myself at the SPRC (Smashing Pumpkins Record Club) after I bought the Siamese Dream box set last December and received an email about this yesterday.
I'm on hte fence about this release. As much as I love there 1990's stuff, I've pretty much given up on these guys. MAYBE I'll give this album a try....it;s promotion kind of has a "Chinese Democracy" feel - which I wasn't impressed by,
new details on the Smashing Pumpkins’ Pisces Iscariot reissue, set to be released in July:
CD Japan is detailing that the reissue of Pieces Iscariot Deluxe Edition will come with the following items
“14 original tracks feature the latest digital remastering. This edition includes a bonus CD with 17 unreleased tracks, a DVD with 24 live tracks, a cassette with 6 demo tracks. Also comes with liner notes by Billy Corgan and a booklet with unreleased photos. ”
I'm going to get that Pisces Iscariot reissue. I've listened to it before and some of the stuff is sublime; too good for B-sides. I don't actually have the album, so it'll be worth it — especially with all the content that comes with it.
Neither. I might not get any of them, because I already have Siamese Dream. We'll see about Gish, but I'm definitely going to get the Pisces Iscariot reissue.
There is a slight improvement in the sound of the remastered version of of Siamese Dream.
I picked it up for the live DVD that was included with it.
It's kind of strange that they've already included the great 'Starla' with the Gish reissue. I guess it'll pretty much be a repeat on Pisces Iscariot. I was expecting them to disperse songs like this amongst the other two albums as most of them were just their b-sides or outtakes.
Well, today I picked up two tickets to their show at the ACC in Toronto for October 25th. Admittedly, I have very little interest in their new stuff but unfortunately/unbelievably I have never gotten around to see Billy Corgan and his bandmates (whomever they may have been at the time). In other words, I wish I was seeing them 15 or so years ago...but I didn't, so here's my chance. I looked at some recent setlists and although they play a tonne from Oceania, a lot of their past hits like "Today," "Disarm," "1979," and "Bullet..." are being played.
