1. Sorry if I'm sceptical.
I've just read on U2Songs page that the announce will be on the 20th and the tour will probably be branded Joshua Tree Tour. Some thoughts:
    1) We are at 5 days from announcement. Someone here told me that when you get close to the announcement, you will find some leaks around like posters or so on. I don't have notice of any leak.
    2) Often before an announcement you have a pre-announcement, something like a "stay tuned". I don't have notice of this.
    3) JTT is a 2 and a half years old tour. Remaking it again is a commercial and artistic non-sense. Also if Australian fans didn't see it.
    4) Between JTT time and today, U2 made a new album and a new tour (E&I). Again, coming back to JTT is a commercial and artistic non-sense.
    5) If they do JTT tour, they cannot put out the JTT DVD. Putting out the DVD of the tour before the tour itself is a commercial suicide for the selling of the DVD.
My opinion? There will be NO TOUR. Hope to be wrong, but this is my opinion.
  2. If there will be NO TOUR at this point, the only thiing I can say...speechless.
  3. No probs you should send them a list of the names you want for the tour I'm sure they'll accommodate your worries

I don’t agree that calling it TJT tour is commercial nonsense given that most people in the locations they would be playing won’t have seen it. TJT is certainly a far easier sell than E&I or I&E in my opinion particularly when they’re trying to fill a stadium. Also regarding the dvd it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve released a dvd of the tour before the tour is finished, I don’t think it will have an impact on sales.
  5. Why can't they put out a TJT DVD / BD? 360 DVD / BD was released mid 2010, before the 360 tour was even announced in Australia.

And I don't see a commercial suicide either. People who see the film want to see the show live, and people who see the show live want to relive it at home.

I'm not sure about a announcement on Monday, but a DVD release of the TJT 2017 Tour is no problem, IMHO.
  6. Vertigo Chicago was also released way before the end of that tour.

JTT is better to fill a stadium, you are right. But I'm still sceptical about a 2 years and a half old thing. I mean: it is not like 360 leg 1 & 2 which were made one year after the other (2009-2010) and with not a new album and a new tour between them. It is a strange choice never done by U2 before. JTT was not a nostalgic act, they say, and now they will do it AGAIN after so many time? Don't you think it is strange? And then there are all the economics and logistic non-senses than I expressed some weeks ago here. It is just my opinion. If I am wrong, I will be happy to offer you a beer, guys! And I will be the first one to admit that I was wrong.
  8. “Does it really matter???? Tour”

Maybe you are right. 360 DVD was like you said. In my opinion it is not a good choice. And usually in music history it doesn't work like this: DVD tours are 90% put out after the tour. Don't you think that if you make people see on DVD what they are going to see in a live show, their desire to see the show gets lower? I think it does. And anyway DVD's are for people who saw the show, who wants to remember those great moments. It doesn't work in the opposite sense, IMHO. I don't buy a DVD before going, like I don't buy it if I didn't go. Remember that official DVD is not like YouTube, quality is very high. But maybe I'm wrong. It is just to share opinions.
  10. If anything the DVD will help push ticket sales if they decide to release it,but I don't think this tour will be the same as TJT tour in 2017 it may include elements from I'd say it will be a lot different.
  11. The U2360 Tour DVD was released on June 3, 2010. U2 had yet to play shows in 2010 in Europe, or the 2011 shows in North America. And the 2010 shows in Australia hadn't even been released.

The Vertigo Tour DVD was released on November 14, 2005. The band was still playing North America at that time. They had yet to play South America, Australia, etc.

The Elevation Tour DVD was released on November 26, 2001. The band at that time weren't quite finished with the Elevation Tour either, as it went into December of that year. And when the tour DVD was planned for that date, it was likely that the band was still considering a run of 2002 dates that they eventually decided against.
