I didn't know them until 4 minutes ago, and really, WTF are you on? I guess you're judging them based solely on their look (and still they don't look like a boy band at all but anyway), but you didn't LISTEN to them did you? It's modern pop-rock with some hints of hard rock, americana or even motown (listen to the second example because the first is a bit misleading, more soft/accessible sounding)

@Alex, even if we're extremely off topic by now, thanks for introducing them over here. I like them quite a lot, specially that second tune (Knocking At The Door). I can hear some The Band in there, as well as some classic Motown nuances, some Elvis Costello and even more modern influences like Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire? They sound really really good. I'll be digging in a bit more

I did and I still haven't changed my mind - not my bag man. My little niece likes them though.

Haha yeah - derailed this a little bit...like I said, I should open a new thread!

And yeah, their first couple albums are more rock-oriented, but then they dove right into the pop-rock thing with as you said, a motown/gospel sort of flair, and definitely some Americana/Springsteen vibes - and it's a really cool combination!

I'd honestly have a hard time recommending any one of their albums as they're all so good - but my favourites of theirs are their most recent three, I feel like they hit their stride with the album High Noon (when they started getting a little more poppy and IMO, unique). Definitely check em' out and tell me what you think! Then you can come to Canada for show and I can show you the sites
  4. Yeh man you've hijacked this thread long enough - let's get back on track with the awesomeness that is So Cruel

The fact that the band brought Acrobat from the vaults for the E&i tours - brilliant that and they did it proud and it could have been because they knew the die-hard fans wanted it and would've loved it - but no such love for So Cruel.

It's a simpler song and one that suits a mixed crowd because of its gentler tones, but nothing. Maybe it's a future tour possibility?
  5. The only way we will hear this live again is if they play an AB30 tour
  6. And Full band as well
  7. Wasn’t that long and frustratingly bootlegless Tinley Park show the only one where this was played in full?
  8. It was never performed in full band. Bono did sing an acoustic full lyrics version twice, but none of them were recorded, sadly
  9. I'm assuming the live arrangement is holding them back. If they put the dedication into it like they did Acrobat it's going to be a live cracker.
  10. Kills me that this bootleg isn't available. Grew up a mile or so from this venue and would love to hear this historic performance of So Cruel.

At this point is it just assumed it was not taped?
  11. No one has issued a death certificate yet, but one can assume.
  12. I'd guess after approx 30 years we'd have at least heard about it by now.

I suppose you never know who's relative has an old cassette tape with 1991-09-15 U2 scrawled on the label, buried at the bottom of a bin somewhere.
