1. I thought it was an additional part of that run, between Vertigo and Desire, in the original rehearsal sets. Which, if you ask me, makes a lot of sense. Unpopular opinion, I know, but The Showman is one of my favorites, and it kind of makes a lot of sense in that part of the show. Not playing it live was a mistake, I think — that’s kind of the point of the song...

I'm not buying that they played it a few times on the JT tour without any hassle and it's not a demanding song on the vocals as it's slow paced for most of his part & there were more challenging songs in the set list.
  3. Agreed. They did it a million times in rehearsals and planned it as an integral part of the 2017 show design.

And then they didn't have the common sense or foresight to realize ending the show with Miss Syria and Little things would absolutely tank the momentum of a stadium show, and masses of people start leaving the stadium.
  4. A little off topic, but we can all agree the encore for the first dozen or so JT17 shows were some of the most boring of all time?

    JT32 encore was muuuuch better.
  5. I don't think anybody will disagree with that. The Miss Syria and Little Things was a snoozer. I remember hearing it 2 weeks before opening night in rehearsals and thinking they've gotta change this.

Fell into the mistake they've done multiple times...fall in love with the "story" and set pieces and ignore the music and momentum of a show.
  6. Couldn’t agree more. That’s why I feel the next album/tour should not be story based. Having themes like the Zoo Tv / Spiritual encore during Vertigo is fine, but they handcuffed themselves so badly during JT17 and EI. For EI, by the time they got an awesome set list figured out for EI, the tour was already 3/4 over.

Just Look at the variation and set lists during Elevation, Vertigo, and 360.

I agree, but the encor for the Ei tour was more boring, City of + One/Love is BIgger/13 was very poor, even if I like 13.

They did that last year too.

Gloria was first done at Tokyo 2... like 85% of the tour was done already.

Great part of Elevation was instead of two slots that were unpredictable, pretty much everything from Until the End of the World through Streets was in some kind of flux all tour. There were patterns, but the order got flipped around a lot per my memory. Perhaps that's just the blessings of a stripped-down production?
  10. I think it's a crime Little Things wasn't performed on EI.
  11. Agree so much! Huge disappoint when you look at what they played instead- especially on the first leg.

You'd think they'd have known better after using One as a closer (main set or show) for 20 years.
