1. lucky you lol, now u have a song to play besides the beatles 'happy birthday".

  2. I enjoyed the piano line in the background along with the nice guitar riffage.

Eno wasn't lying when he said it was the best song he ever recorded with them (well he wasn't lying that much).

It's like an HTDAAB/ATYCLB pop rock mash up, but the addition of the piano and arabic cello makes it much more interesting than that.

And the rapid fire verses are excellent, different, fresh lyrics. I wish more songs on the album would have these kind of effortless lyrics, that do not feel contrived in the slightest.

You can just imagine the singer opening the door, finding a salesman trying to sell him something that will make 'stay alive a bit longer', but having led a life lived to the fullest he walks into the street, arms stretched out and sings to the salesman "There’s nothing you have that I need' and he implores the salesman with all his commercialness to 'Breathe now'. Breath all this life in. Absolutely fantastic.

it's like a rock musical playing out in your head.

It reminds me of Beautiful Day in its unabashed optimism and the ' don't need it now' reference, very uplifting. It also has the 'songs are in our eyes' line from Miracle Drug, which is cool to see.

And the chorus is fantastic, I simply love the way the Edge and Bono sing "Breathe"

Truly this song is the highpoint of the album, much more touching than the contrived melodrama that is Moment of Surrender.

Totally agree, love where its located on the album to, to often on the last two albums the band has put the top tunes especially the big rockers like this one, at the top half of the album so it just fades to the close. This with Cedars really brings it all home. Absolutely love this track. Still my favorite after a large amount of listens

  5. No Im not. I was bringing my puppy to get vaccine for his allergies! Big surprise hearing Breathe on the radio and on U2 MYSPACE their streaming the album.

    Ah, fair enough!!

I can't get streaming on mySpace. Is that US only again?

  7. Why who doesn't like it?
Bet it's all those who hate the mainstream U2 stuff, that will be singles and adored by the masses. Almost as if being commercially successful makes the song some kind of pop drivel.
Or even worse, the song sounds too much like Coldplay.

I judge songs on their individual merit, not how they will be received.
  8. Breathe is my fave, it has classic written all over it, Magnificent & MOS a close second.

I mean your opinion about Moment of Surrender compared to mine.

  10. Ahhh, I actually posted a breakdown of MoS in its thread. No one has responded to it yet.

  11. No, because there is no need for that. The song is absolutely brilliant. Shortest 7 min 24 secs in life when listen to it.
