1. I like the song but didn’t really enjoy the performance. Worse to think that it could easily be the only ‘live’ version of the song ever, I hope not though. I still hope they play it as a band one day. Going back to the comments about people checking out the artists other work I do think some people will. I checked out a few Martin Garrix songs after I heard We Are The People, I didn’t actually enjoy any but I still checked the songs out, I’m sure at least some people will do the same with u2, maybe not a lot of people though.

    Well u should care.

    Legacy...

Legacy is the single most important thing a band can have once they call it quits. Legacy determines where the band places in future discussions about the best bands of all time.

U2 ( or more so new management) seem determined to cock that up and they will be lumped in ‘said’ discussions with bands like Creed, Bon Jovi etc instead of bands like the Stones, Beatles, Pink Floyd etc if they continue down this cringey road. I for one care about where they end up in that discussion !

Nice comment, agree with that. The performance was weird to me, but guess that's not their fault perse

They are just side projects mostly by Bono ,he knows that guitar based music is dead in the water as regards relevancy, the guy has his finger on the pulse if he was to do a collaboration with Chris Martin then I would be worried about their legacy getting damaged. U2 always want to appeal to a broader audience not just the old codgers who just stand there at a gig waiting for Streets and moan for the rest of the night that U2 went downhill after Achtung baby even though most of them probably never bothered listening to anything they did since then.

    Exactly.
  6. Disturbing and cringe inducing to be honest.
  7. The "performance" was very, very, very, very lame.

This has been one of the most embarrasing moments I can remember to be a U2 fan. I can't think of any other time when my friends, mates and even people I haven't talked to in a long time have mocked me as with this Bono&Edge appearance. Even worse than the SOI release debacle in Sept 2014.
  8. I don't know, I think SOIgate will never be topped. In the middle of the video at the big explosion of sound, Edge raised his guitar- I was listening for a power chord but all I got was power synth LOL..was just a highly-produced music video, I wouldn't even call it a "virtual performance" or "appearance." Wondering Lawrence's thoughts on the whole thing πŸ‘€
  9. Did not watch it and also not listen to this. For the moment I am not taken Bono and the Edge serious. My suggestion is, Phone springsteen, Invite yourself at his range, listen to the boss, how to make music as a band, don't talk, and go back to your roots make music.
  10. Very lame indeed, but not on same scale as SOI release. Grannies and young children aside, nobody in their right mind watches an opening ceremony for a football tournament.
  11. I have no problems with the SOI release, its a very good record, unfortunately the Apple release overshadowed Soi, way to much.
