    thanks for posting them anyway
  3. I feel pretty much detached from most things U2 related at the moment, and it's been like this for a good bunch of months already. It has happened plenty of times in the past during periods of low U2 activity (most usually between tours), but I always had the comfort of looking forward to a new album.

But what lies ahead is even more of the same disillusionment that's brought me here: a residency (dislike) in Vegas (dislike) paying tribute to a classic album (dislike) without Larry (huge disappointment) and very little hope of a new album in the near future (despair).

It's pretty safe to say this is my all time lowest point as a U2 fan

A feeling I'm sure many echo, it's not just them getting older but the latest activity feels lazy compared to the band who used to always surprise and break new ground. Let's see if they have something else to offer before it's over.

Whatever happens, they leave a great legacy and it would be a shame to end it by becoming a heritage act, I guess it's inevitable.
  7. They are my favourite band of all time and will probably remain so, however, I can't help but agree that I have also never felt this disconnected from them. I hate the Vegas thing and I hate it more without a member of the band, never thought I'd see the day😔
I've been listening to many newer artists who are exciting and the music excites me and it's fantastic. U2 haven't been on my stereo for a while😔
I love the band, so many memories and feelings throughout my life are entwined with them but this is a low point. I pray they get past the Vegas thing and blow me away with new music. I don't doubt they can do it, I do doubt whether they will. C'mon U2 🤞🤞
  8. SOS was a suprise soundwise, some crackers like vertigo, the fly, stil haven’t found etc.
But ATYCLB to SOE is roughly the same sound, compare that to Joshua Tree/ R&H to Achtung baby, zooropa, Pop: what a difference. Or Boy and October to UF and from that tot JT. What a change in style and sound in a few years.
At least SOS is a new sound. Let’s hope they surprise is with something great

    I'm 100% with you.
  10. I too am very bored with U2 lately. It almost feels like they aren’t a band anymore, and that they went out with a whimper instead of a roar. I’m sure when the Vegas shows happen things will seem a little more exciting, even if I won’t be attending any shows.

I get it, they’re getting older and Covid pretty much added a year or two to the overall timeline, but it seems like the momentum is DEAD. Quite the contrast to 2014-2019, when there were multiple tours and albums happening.

tbf 2014 - 2019 was a very intense period for them of constant recording and touring; definitely one of the most active they'd ever been for a certain period of time throughout their whole career. So, I think it makes sense that they wanted to take a step back, relax and regroup at a later time, and with Covid happening, some stuff had to be pushed back I suppose. According to all of them, a new album and a new tour after Vegas are on the horizon, so I am optimistic and seeing The Sphere as a great way to bring the band at the forefront of the music industry and reignite their passion for further work.
