Homeland Security/your country's equivalent have better things to do that just your door down over a show you recorded
I know several people with first hand experience that would disagree with you after being caught at venue. I know folks where homeland security confiscated all gear (later returned), slammed the tapers against the wall, and went nutso. I know folks that were thrown in jail overnight in European country and had all gear confiscated (and NOT returned).

So yeah, Bono might be chill with the fan doing some recording, but it does not extend to security--band, venue, or law enforcement.
  2. That stole all my rose bowl footage even tho i said no
  3. That year went quick.

that's not what you want of course, but still it's sort of incalculable. When you're getting accused of violating copyrights you'll have a far bigger problem.
  5. Aren’t we all glad they toured this time last year and we weren’t waiting for the 40th anniversary tour this year.

I dunno, getting body slammed against the wall with guns drawn because they mistaken iem packs on your chest as bombs is a little more dramatic than copyrights disputes.

Not to mention spending night in jail and getting gear confiscated.
  7. I’m so glad they were able to hits Australia/NZ and Asia before 2020 happened. Those fans deserved their shows, and if it didn’t happen then who the hell knows when the next time would’ve been for them!

well, when you pack yourself like a suicide bomber maybe it's different, but in general the worst thing that can happen is losing your gear. It's the worst case scenario, you can think for yourself if that's worth the risk. I think most tapers would realize that taking your gear out means something could happen to it. Getting yourself into copyright disputes could be a lot more complicated.
  9. Fair enough, I'll agree to that.

Wow sounds like some anecdote. 2005?
  11. I know one taper that got busted by U2 security with IEM gear and watched closely for a long time.

2017 was the engagements with Department of Homeland Security.
