    LMFAO.

  4. Lots of hate in this thread for a song that's better than all but one track off The Joshua Tree.
  5. I think a lot of people are too stubborn and set in their ways to give it a chance to grow on them. It does surprise me the people who proudly state they won’t give it another chance after one listen or not even a full listen in some cases. All that does is devalue the persons opinion. I didn’t come to the conclusion October is U2’s worst album after just one listening experience.

I always thought October was their worst album, but Songs Of Ignorance is putting up a really tough fight. I think this new song is ok. But just to show how people's opinions vary, I still love Stuck In A Moment as a classic song, but the venom on this site for it is real. Some just don't like U2's cheesy pop side. Had Invisible, Crystal Ballroom, Lucifer's Hands, and the original Ordinary Love, the acoustic Breaking Wave been on the actual album, and maybe had California's intro been shortened, SOI would've probably avoided worst album for me, but the way it was released, it is. This new song is what it is, a track for a kid's movie, and I may grow to like it more, but the last 15 years we keep hearing about new sounds, but it's the same old thing and style. SOE is better, but Book Of Your Heart is more proof they are terrified of putting the best songs on the actual albums. Yearning for hits that never come for over 40 acts. Uh, over 50 acts, uh, ancient acts. Pop hits are difficult for those over 35 these days, and their chasing for hits would be like me trying to go to a club filled with 18 year old girls expecting to get a date. Foolish.

Well it does show you how opinions vary, I too love stuck in a moment but SOI for me is the 3rd best album U2 ever released. I think you make valid points about some of the non album tracks that could have been on the album certainly invisible, Crystal ballroom and lucifers hands in place of the miracle, sleep like a baby tonight and volcano would have upped the standard but I don’t think any of they latter 3 are less than 7/10 songs. I prefer the album version of EBW and California’s intro is fine with me. Probably the joint best song on the album with the troubles. A few of these songs do feature different sounds as well imo. Raised By Wolves for example what U2 song is similar to that? The troubles? Can’t think of many U2 songs comparable. Sleep like a baby and this is where you can reach me, the same sounds? I think EBW and Song For Someone were perfectly good songs that would have been the hits 20 years ago, just because the music trend meant that didn’t happen didn’t make them bad attempts. But that’s me, SOI is an excellent album with not a bad song on it, October is the only U2 album with more poor/average songs than good/great songs. Your Song Saved My Life would be in a competition for 3rd best on October and maybe about 7th or 8th best on SOI.
  8. Looks like it was clever timing on U2’s part to release this a day before ABBA’s only album in the last 40 years! They’ve rightly taken over all the music media headlines since.

It’s worth comparing what Bruce Springsteen has done recently. Any left field project he does is as a solo artist, while an E street band release doesn’t mess too much with their tried and tested formula.

If Bono had done that song as a solo effort I wonder would it have attracted the same backlash?

    100% agree.

I don’t think it would of. But who knows. People seem to hate on Bono no matter what.
  11. Watched the lyric video, brings it to life even more. A lovely little ‘stop gap’ song until we get a new album next year. Nothing major to read into it, no point over analysing, can’t compare to an album released 40 years ago, it’s not a sign of a new direction or an indication of the new album sound, etc. Just a song from a movie that will fit the movie and nice to get a new u2 song.

Just ploughing through Passengers on vinyl as feel I have to because of the 26 year anniversary 😂👍
  12. I like this song and it gets better on each listen. It’s not in the running for best U2 song. Bu it’s better than some other non-album tracks—Ordinary Love for example.
